2019 Annual Board Meeting & new Board Members needed!

Annual Board Meeting  - Monday, November 4, 2019 @ 7pm Westford Town Library.

Dear Homeowners,

In September I sent a letter to all the KHHA members soliciting for four new Board members for the coming year. Unfortunately we did not receive enough responses to fill all of the vacancies. 

The covenants of the Association require a minimum of seven Board members for their governance to be legally binding. Without a full Board the Association can be legally challenged for any business transactions made and the State of Vermont can assume guardianship. The consequences of this are many including being open to lawsuits, loss of local control and most importantly a potential loss of value to your property.

As stated in the September letter no prior experience is necessary and we welcome both new and established community members. It is a great way for the Board to get fresh ideas and for you to meet your neighbors as well as to become very acquainted with the governing documents!  Three current members will continue on the Board and guidance from those leaving will continue to be available.

The time commitment involves a one-year term (may be reelected yearly for a maximum of three consecutive years). The Board meets once a month and for one annual meeting. Additional time is dependent on the Board position you are in.

Our Annual meeting is scheduled for November 4. It would be great to see you there even if you don’t want to be on the Board. Your interest and input is always appreciated.

Trash Collection: Letter to Selectboard

For your information, below is a copy of the letter that was sent to the Westford Selectboard from the KHHA Board on January 8, 2019.

Dear Members of the Westford Selectboard,

The KHHA board held a special meeting on Saturday January 5, 2019 to discuss the recent issues with the garbage collection in our community. Over four of the last nine weeks no trash has been collected on the KHHA roads.

Prior to the meeting we received feedback from the garbage collector, Myers, that our roads were not safe for their trucks due to icy conditions. As a result, we invited our snow plowing contractor, Rich Louko, to the meeting and he provided details on a plan that he worked out with Myers to remedy this problem. Louko has asked, and Myers agreed, that Myers call them if a road is icy and they will send a truck to sand it within 10-20 minutes of the call. He also provided his insights into limitations with Myers ability to pick up trash on our roads as compared to the previous service. He brought up two items in particular, (1) not using tire chains and (2) not going to the top of the hill and picking up the garbage on the way down only.  We suggest the town pass along this feedback to Myers.

We will remind our members that they should call the KHHA road commissioner Andy Diamond if they have concerns with the KHHA roads. 

In addition, on the garbage collection days that the roads cannot be kept clear due to storm conditions, we request that the town provide an alternate collection date, as we have been provided in prior years.

Members of the KHHA board plan to attend the selectboard meeting on January 10. Thank you for putting KHHA trash pickup on the agenda.
